Have you ever been in a situation that was just so bad you just had to laugh? And in some cases you had to laugh to keep from crying? Or even as you were crying you started laughing or you were laughing and started crying? If you are feeling me on any of these scenarios then you understand why I was not the least bit upset at President Obama for laughing during his 60 Minute interview a few weeks ago. Hell I was laughing too.
The economic situation is so bad some times you just have to laugh. And think about it. He first started laughing about how Americans don't want to put money in to the car industry. And then how banks think Americans should pay for their bailout while Americans think they shouldn't pay any part of any bailout. It's all just ridiculous. Everything is inter-related. We may not like the AIG situation but it would be even worse if the government didn't bail them out. We aren't buying American cars BUT the fallout through multiple industries if the Big 3 were to fail is cataclysmic.
For the President it's a case of being stuck between a rock and a hard place and having the choice of two bad solutions to solve an even worse problem. So if laughing at how ludicrous things have become keeps our President sane and focused, laugh on. Things are so serious sometimes we just have to stop for a moment and laugh...I promise it will keep you from going insane. And after laughing, crying or both you might feel better and might have come up with a reasonable solution to whatever situation got you to laugh/cry.
